The evening is winding to a close as I write these words…and so is the year 2023. The festive flurry of Christmas has become a sweet memory and New Year’s Eve is right around the corner, bringing us to one of my favorite windows of reflection.
I love setting goals for each year! (I hope to share some about my version of goal setting in an upcoming post!) In the process of doing my prep work, I find it very enlightening to go back over the past year.
It’s like a little gift to remember what happened – the big highlights (there were some momentous ones in 2023!), the fun, spontaneous things, and especially the beautifully humbling details of how God taught me along the way.
Something nearly always surprises me. “I forgot about that!” I may think over and over, very grateful to realize the value that filled these days.
And then, as always, the coming of this new year excites me. There is a subtle electric anticipation for what will fill its days. What will be accomplished? What will surprise and delight, in the best sort of way? What challenges will be faced? What lessons will be learned?
Of course, we can’t know.
And I’m kind of glad…aren’t you? 🙂
But it’s thrilling to be here, on the brink of a myriad of possibilities, and to know beyond the shadow of a doubt, no matter what happens over the course of 2024, God will be good.
He will be present.
He will be faithful and completely trustworthy.
I’m thanking Him and looking forward to living this fresh new year with Him, by His grace! And I’m also looking forward to sharing the adventure here. 2024 awaits! Happy New Year!
Please chime in! How will you celebrate the new year? Do you set goals? What is one of your big highlights from 2023?
Because of Jesus,
Maggie ♥

January 20, 2024 at 5:17 pmI’m so grateful for the freshness of a new year…and the awe of looking back over a whole year past and seeing His faithfulness. Truly our God is always faithful!♥ From my 2023 – I’m thankful for adding a new sister-in-law to my family and enjoying much fellowship with the Body of Christ, and learning even more of the blessing of being a family in Him! I can’t wait to see what He has in store in 2024, and look forward to seeing what projects and adventures you have to share here on the blog. Thank you for this post, Maggie!
